Activities Report of General Secretary for the year 2008-09.

Dear Brothers,

At the outset, I would like to convey my thanks for extending the term by one year to serve our community and Thiruvalluvar Foundation.  During the year 2008-09, we have done many remarkable activities with your full co-operation.

You may be aware that we require more fund to carry out charity activities in a large scale.  We have marked the day “15th August” as “One Rupee Fund” day.  Many noble hearted members have contributed generously.  A sum of Rs.16,693=75 was collected during the year 2007-08 and a sum of Rs.21,336=00 was collected during the year 2008-09.  There is a considerable increase in the contribution.  I request you to contribute generously in the current year also.

One of the objects of Thiruvalluvar Foundation is to spread the awareness of education among our society.  In order to fulfill, we have started a quarterly magazine “Kalvikkadal” which has been registered with Registrar of Newspaper of India (RNI), New Delhi.  Two issues viz.Jan-Mar.09 and April-June 09 were released.

We have formed a marriage bureau with six committee members.  More than 60 applications were received from bride/groom from our Community.  Abridged details of matrimonials were published in the Kalvikkadal magazine.  Most of the people were benefited.  Matrimonial advertisements were published in the local newspaper also.

In order to encourage students in their studies, an advertisement was published in the local newspaper to grant Merit Awards to SSC/HSC/Graduate students belonging to Adi-Dravidar Community.  A total number of 08 students from Mumbai were facilitated with cash memento and certificates.  A total amount of Rs.6250/- was spent towards cash memento.

I am very happy to announce that Income Tax authorities have awarded 80G exemption to our Foundation for a period of three years from 28/02/2008 to 31/03/2011.  I also convey my gratitude to Mr.C.Senthoorpandy who has brought a donation of Rs.11001/-.  We have increased our asset by keeping an additional amount of Rs.45000/- on fixed deposit with Saraswat Co-Op.bank during the current year.

Dear brothers, though, we are moving towards our goals slowly and steadily, I am confident that we will achieve our goals very soon.  Our brother and sisters studying in schools and colleges in Mumbai and in Tamil Nadu need your help and guidance.  You can help them by providing service, monetary assistance and guidance.

I therefore, request you to attend the Annual General Body meeting scheduled to be held on 9th August, 2009 without fail and participate in the development activities of Thiruvalluvar Foundation.  You are not only important to your family, but also to our Foundation and Society.  Let us prosper and grow together.

With regards,

Sincerely Yours,

Date: 21/07/2009.

C.Panneer Selvam,
Ex.General Secretary.
